DEAN ACADEMY
raising managerial competences among
deans of the University of Warsaw
November 13, 2020 The official inauguration of the University of Warsaw Deans' Academy took place, a new management education program organized by the International Management Center of the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the Office of Employee Affairs of the University of Warsaw for the deans of all faculties. The DEAN ACADEMY of the University of Warsaw is a program aimed at increasing managerial competences among newly elected deans of the 2020-2024 term of office.
The ceremonial inauguration of the newly created program took place online on the Zoom platform. Despite the virtual form of the meeting, its ceremonial character has been preserved. The meeting was attended by J.M. Rector of the University of Warsaw, prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, members of the Rector's and Chancellor's Teams, deans and directors of university research and development units, teachers and program organizers.
J.M. Rector of the University of Warsaw, prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, in his speech, presented the main goals of the program:
“Besides gaining knowledge, the most important thing for us is that we learn to cooperate with each other; so that, on the one hand, we can compete, and on the other - respect each other, talk, accept different views on reality, ”said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, rector of the University of Warsaw, during his speech.
The inaugural lecture entitled "Collegial art of management" was delivered by prof. dr hab. Monika Kostera from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Södertörn University in Stockholm, an expert in the field of organization theory, who presented the development of the concept of university management.
Dr. Tomasz Ludwicki, director of the International Management Center of WZ UW, presented the Academy's schedule of classes, to which lecturers cooperating with MCZ WZ UW, as well as UW experts who know internal university regulations were invited.
The Deans' Academy will run from November 2020 to June 2021 and will consist of ten regular meetings. Program participants will learn about the financial aspects of the functioning of the University of Warsaw, process management, strategic management of a university, talent development and team management, and other issues.
